Early Germanic Jaeger Rifle This unsigned USED rifle has a 31 1/2 inch .58 caliber octagon barrel, R.E. Davis Jaeger lock and double triggers, and all brass hardware on the black walnut stock. Relief carving decorates behind the cheek piece, behind the barrel tang, and below the entry thimble. Relief forestock molding runs along the ramrod channel, while incised buttstock molding runs from the trigger guard to the buttplate toe. The slinding wood patchbox lid is also carved. Engraving decorates the front and rear finials of the trigger guard, high and low on the long buttplate tang extension, on the brass cap of the patchbox lid, the tang of the entry thimble, the barrel tang, at the front and tear sights, on the lockplate and the cock, and a nifty wild boar and other engraving is on the sideplate. The front and rear sights are traditional, fancy European-style. The barrel is coned and the crown is also decorated. If you want a contemporary gun that looks like an original, this is the one. It has been well cared for, used to hunt, shoot in matches and is very accurate. The bore is bright and shiny, and all the components are tight and function perfectly. The Davis lock throws a shower of sparks. A perfect representation of a pre-American Revolution jaeger rifle. I have 14 additional photos showing the full length and close up detail of the decorative work. Ask for them by email. At today's new custom gun prices, this would easily go for $3,000 or more. USED GUN (#2526) $1350.00
SHIPPING RATES Rates vary depending on the weight and destination. Long guns with over 42 inch barrels are subject to shipping surcharges because of the package's combined dimensions. Please email for current rates and insurance cost. I will need your zip code to offer you the shipping choices. At this time USPS parcel post or priority mail seem like the best options. $
